Stepping Stones Wellbeing:
A Paediatric Counselling Service
and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist.
We offer appointments in the office, Telehealth and Outreach through schools and community programs.
Stepping Stones Wellbeing provides neuro-affirming counselling and therapeutic support tailored for children, adolescents, and their families.
Led by an ACA Paediatric Counsellor and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASD-CS), Karmyn Smith, our services support families, children and adolescents with both diagnosed and undiagnosed Autism and ADHD.
We provide evidence-based therapeutic supports for emotional regulation challenges, sensory processing differences, social communication needs, and anxiety-based responses. We also provide adolescent drug and alcohol counselling within a counselling and psychoeducational framework.
Our Approach
Our approach is child-centred, trauma-informed, and relationship-based, with a strong focus on co-regulation, emotional awareness, and skill development. Supports are delivered using developmentally appropriate, play-based and visual strategies, tailored to each child’s strengths and needs.
We also offer Autism Spectrum Disorder information workshops for families, community organisations, and schools, supporting understanding, inclusion, and capacity building.
At Stepping Stones Wellbeing, we walk alongside children and families—one step at a time—supporting wellbeing, confidence, and meaningful connection.

Through evidence-based counselling, tailored programs, and community initiatives, she is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting acceptance, and providing practical strategies that enable everyone we support to reach their full potential.
Come along and enjoy a movie with us.
Stepping Stones Wellbeing and our partners, the Oatmill Cinema Complex, have joined together to bring sensory screenings to our community. There is no allocated seating, lowered lighting, and lowered audio. You and your family are welcome to sing, stim and dance as much as you like while enjoying the movie.
For those of you who are new to our community, this session is specially catered for families and carers supporting children and adults living with disabilities and sensory sensitivities who want to enjoy a movie.
These sessions allow those living with autism and other disabilities to be in an inclusive, supportive environment.
While these sessions are open to everyone in our community, please be mindful that if you are not seeking a sensory screening, make sure you choose the correct session before purchasing tickets, as these sessions aren’t designed for those who want a quiet-as-a-mouse environment.
Tickets can be booked online or on the day at the Oatmill cinema. Ticket prices are as follows. Adults - $16.50Children - $11.50Students - $14.00Concession – $14.00, Senior - $ 10.00Family - $48.00, 2 Adults and 2 Children or 1 Adult and 3 Children aged between 3-14 years.
